Oil Finder Technology (OFT)

OFT is a proven and disruptive satellite-based exploration technology that can identify sub-surface reservoirs of hydrocarbons using non-invasive proprietary techniques for a fraction of the cost of traditional exploration.

The Science

Hydrocarbon reservoirs in the subsoil and bedrock create anomalies in the earth’s magnetic field. With the right equipment these anomalies can be detected passively and measured quite precisely,
to give indications of the presence of oil, gas and condensate, reservoir pressure and location to guide where to investigate further with exploratory wells.

Like MFT, OFT examines the deep blue and ultraviolet range of the electromagnetic spectrum to detect the unique electromagnetic resonant frequency and wavelength signature of the target hydrocarbons.

OFT uses a proprietary database of the resonant frequencies to detect the presence of the target hydrocarbons in the area of interest through a 3-phase process of screening for and mapping such anomalies at increasing levels of accuracy.

OFT has been successfully deployed on over 100 projects globally and Tec Minerals is not aware of any other technology that can deliver the exploratory well success rates of OFT.

OFT Process

The OFT exploration programme involves 3 phases of work as illustrated below.

Phase 1

Remote Sensing Satelite Spectography
Satellite based spectral data capture and processing.

This phase confirms the presence of hydrocarbons in an area of interest (onshore or offshore) and is the gateway for the next phase of work.

Phase 2

Field Sensing FSPEF & VERS
Non-invasive field sensing through the formation of short pulse electromagnetic fields and vertical electro-resonance sounding.

This work provides greater definition of the likely reservoir size and target depth identified in phase 1.

Phase 3

Mapping
Laboratory analysis, mapping and report writing to inform subsequent high probability exploration drilling programmes.

Key Benefits of OFT

A New Paradigm in Exploration and Discovery

Reduced Cost of Discovery
OFT surveys confirm the presence of hydrocarbons prior to drilling and reduces the end-to-end cost of discovery by over 80%
Shorter Discovery Timeframes
OFT reduces the time to discovery by reducing the number of exploratory wells required per discovery (typically 10-20)
Higher Drilling Success Rates
Full 3-phase OFT surveys increase the probability of success of subsequent drilling to over 90%
Lower Environmental Impact
OFT removes the need for the number of exploration wells, thereby leading to lower environmental impact to marine life or flora and fauna onshore
